DEATH

The day you were born you were predestined to die,
My thought, What is the purpose?  Is life just a lie?

You bring me here to take me away,
Then on the Sabbath You ask me to pray.

My future is so bleak, yet it is unknown,
For I search this vast land to find my home.

Everything I have done has come to an end,
On a new adventure I must seek to attend.

They tell me to take care of my failing health,
they also tell me that my life depends on elusive wealth.

Do you realize the beauty of the unknown?
This is the place we should all call home.

For one day I awoke unto this confining flesh,
And until I release it,
I will have no rest.

My spirit is attached to all living things,
When I decide to depart, this sorrow brings?

The day I was born unto my mother,
Was the day you should have consoled one another.

My spirit has been through heartfelt treason,
In the confinement of my flesh I looked for the reason.

On this body I have put the weight of my future,
Even though my broken heart is sewn with sutures.

To die is to live outside of right now,
To live is to die based on an empty vow.

What shall we do with your body when you die?
In a “Glad” garbage bag I prefer to lie.

You say “Why wouldn’t you prefer a rich funeral?
My spirit is gone home, my flesh just a mineral.

As we emphasize the meaning of our impure lust,
We find heaven in giving praise as we release this dust.

On the eternal pastures I am seeking to rest,
and for this reason I now appreciate the gift of death.

The whole of your life is to allow you to see,
it is also to decide not what, but who you want to be.
